Tichy Racing Glacier Camp - Schedule may change based on weather and athlete needs
Welcome to Hintertux 2026

This email will help you plan a fun & productive adventure at Tichy Camp. Below we've shared an overview of the plan, a draft of the daily training and dryland schedule locations, and more. Pay special attention to all links; they will provide directions, videos, and photos.
Keep this email (handy) to reference during your trip
We continue to tailor each week to best suit the needs of all our racers and families. Please take a few minutes to read and familiarize yourself with our plan. Be sure to add info@tichyracing.com to your address book to receive daily/nightly emails and updates in the “traditional, less colorful” format. Weather, conditions, and racer endurance may impact the daily schedule. We will communicate changes in regular nightly email blasts and cover any minor changes. Please reply by email (include the camp session number) with any additional email addresses you would like added to the nightly communications.

Feel free to reach out with any questions at any time before arrival. See you at camp.

Unforeseen conditions, force majure or cancellation
Our sport is one of love, winter, cold, and outdoor conditions. In the event of camp cancellation due to insufficient snow and the continued closure of Hintertux Glacier, we present the following options and costs.

  1. Moving our program back one full week (7 days) with arrival in MUC on Sunday, October 11, 2026, and a return from MUC on Sunday, October 25, 2026. There will be no additional costs for racers, family, or parents who can shift their schedules and plans by 7 days. Despite associated travel costs (changes) to our staff, there will be no additional costs.

  2. Cancellation of Tichy Glacier Camp 2026, either by Tichy Racing (due to insufficient snow or unforeseen circumstances) or by the client at their choosing, the $300 Tichy non-refundable deposit, along with a $200 Forelle hotel non-refundable deposit, can not be returned. The $300 Tichy non-refundable deposit applies to all racers (Day Camp or Full Time). The $200 Forelle Hotel non-refundable applies to EACH individual (not family) with a booking through Tichy Racing at Forelle Hotel.

Flights
We have flights from all over the USA. Arrival is before 1:30 PM on Sunday, October 4th, and departure is after 10:25 AM on Sunday, October 18, 2026, to/from Munich International Airport (MUC). We will meet at Starbucks as early as 10:30 AM, just outside of baggage claim at Terminal 2. It is the only Starbucks in Munich Airport and is easily accessible. It also offers regular free wifi. We will return to the MUC airport on October 18, 2026, directly from the Forelle Hotel by 8:00 AM to get everyone on their return flights (leaving Austria around 6:00 AM)

Ground Travel
Racers traveling as Full Camp are included in MUC travel to and from Austria. Local transportation to/from the hotel to Hintertux is available for Day Camp athletes with prior planning. Skiing is possible daily; however, exploring Austria, Germany & Italy is usually preferred. We can help with your needs and planning. Discounted lift tickets are available in bulk only with pre-purchase and pickup on our first day, Monday, October 5, 2026.

Passport and Phone
A passport (valid for at least 30 days after your planned return) and a mobile phone that will work in Austria. There is free Wi-Fi at the airport and at the hotel. Be sure to have iMessage and WhatsApp turned on and downloaded prior to travel. This is an easy and effective way to contact me at 503.704.0002 or martintichy@me.com. Coaches will land in Munich on 10/4/26. Bring one or more 220V adapters/converters for your electrical equipment. There is a difference between a plug adapter and a converter. Check your electronics.

Hotel
Our base hotel in Vorderlanersbach suits our team and caters to our needs, with a tuning room equipped with vises, an iron, extensions, lights, and more. The owner (family business) is an executive chef and serves some of the best meals in the valley. Over the last 20 years, we have had to talk him down from 5 courses to 4, and from 2+ hours of service to 1 1/2 hours (to help the kids stay awake). His wife, Eva, handles all our needs, including laundry service and more.
Hotel Forelle is divided into two sections, with a shared dining room serving both racers and staff. Typically, we stay in the traditional part of the hotel, with two racers per room, each in an individual single bed. At the same time, parents usually prefer the hotel's new, 4-star-rated section. Traditional lodging is included in the racer price; upgrading to a new section is possible at a minimal cost increase. Parent lodging is available at a very reasonable nightly rate, including breakfast and dinner, with our team.
Our hotel offers high-speed Wi-Fi, free parking, saunas, a solarium, and a high ropes play center (occasionally), all included at no additional cost.

Meals
A full-service European breakfast buffet, freshly baked bread and rolls, a juice bar, yogurt, fresh fruit, and hot drinks are included in our stay. Dinner service and quality are unmatched. Dinner drinks, such as soda, juices, and alcohol, are billed separately to each racer/family; table water is included and served with dinner. Lunch is arranged daily for racers, and the cost is not included in the camp price. Dining out, ordering in, grocery shopping, store-bought meals, and food to go are significant parts of our daily routine. This allows each racer/family to adjust to their personal preferences.

Group WhatsApp Chat
We have set up a WhatsApp group chat to help us coordinate and stay in touch. Please join this group at least a few days before your departure from home. https://chat.whatsapp.com/CoHIgbONl3k5HOfiS6a3qw?s=cl&p=i&mlu=4

Ground Travel Only
Racers traveling as Full Camp are included in MUC travel to and from Austria. Local transportation to/from the hotel to Hintertux is available for Day Camp athletes with prior planning. We welcome parents to join us on this trip. Skiing is possible daily; however, exploring Austria, Germany & Italy is usually preferred. We can help with your needs and planning. Discounted lift tickets are available in bulk only with pre-purchase and pickup on our first day, Monday, October 5, 2026.

Ski Shop
Over the last 15 years, we have established a great relationship with the staff and owner at https://www.insider-sportshop.com. You can expect cutting-edge (new line) soft and hard goods at exceptional prices, with export tax usually refunded. Equipment and rental gear service is unmatched.

Hintertux training
We have secured ideal training lanes for both SL and GS. Lift tickets are included in the cost of a camp pass for 12 days of skiing, out of a possible 13 days in Austria. Walk the streets with the cows, eat with our in-house chef, rub shoulders with famous World Cup skiers, and train on the best slopes next to dozens of other serious athletes. You will not be able to forget the Sunny and Dark Side of skiing in Tux with over 60 training lane options.

Skiing
We will start with slalom-coached gate-less skiing on Monday, October 5th, and quickly move into Hero and SL gates the following days. When the weather permits, the middle of camp will be dedicated to GS training. We plan to wrap up with SL again.

Payment
The final payment by check to TICHY RACING, PO BOX 357, GOVERNMENT CAMP, OREGON 97028, is due 60 days before arrival. If you haven't received an updated invoice (including lodging and ticket upgrades), please let me know and check your other email folders.

Forelle has a wonderful in-house SPA and Relaxation area. This is a quiet area and suitable only for mature clients. No running, loud noise, or horseplay is allowed. We will occasionally use this area for recovery and dryland. The Relaxation area opens daily at 1600h.
